PROMOTING OUR AFRICAN CULTURE
Who We Are
DunsinCrafts is an Afrocentric accessory brand that addresses the underrepresentation and potential loss of African cultural heritage in the global fashion industry by designing accessories using indigenous African fabrics. We are dedicated to crafting unique Afrocentric accessories that reflect the vibrant spirit of Africa, offering a unique way to connect with a diverse and storied continent. We believe wearing afrocentric accessories is more than just a fashion choice—it’s a powerful expression of identity, culture, and heritage. Our journey began with a vision to build a brand that celebrates and promotes the rich cultural heritage of Africa through fashion, especially to African descendants in the diaspora.
What We Do
Our Afrocentric accessories are known for their bold, vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Be it handbags, backpacks, laptop bags, clutches, waist bags, tote bags, crossbody bags, earrings or purses, each piece tells a story. Our pieces stand out in any crowd, making a statement about individuality and the wearer’s appreciation for unique, handcrafted items. Wearing these accessories allows you to showcase your personal style in a way that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in tradition. By utilizing traditional African fabrics like Adire and Ankara, we ensure that each product is not only unique and culturally significant but also eco-friendly. Our commitment to craftsmanship and durability promotes a shift away from the disposable culture prevalent in fashion, encouraging consumers to invest in timeless, high-quality pieces.
Our Vision
DunsinCrafts vision is to promote our African culture through fashion while preserving the planet for future generations. We believe in sustainability and ethical craftsmanship, ensuring that our products are made with care and respect for both people and the environment. Through our brand, we aim to reconnect the African diaspora with their cultural roots and introduce global consumers to the beauty and intricacy of African fashion.
Our Creative Touch
Our sustainable approach demonstrates that it is possible to create fashionable, functional products that honor cultural traditions and protect the environment. In the pursuit of quality and durability, we treat our African bags and earrings to be waterproof and dirt resistant. This feature ensures that customers can enjoy their fashion items for a longer period, providing added value.
Social Impact
Through our products and initiatives, our work at DunsinCrafts makes significant social, economic, and environmental impact in Africa. Our initiatives are aligned with the UN SDGs, promoting cultural heritage, women empowerment, sustainability, and community engagement.
As a sustainable brand, we upcycle pre-consumer fabric waste gotten during bag production into unique school bag designs. We promote fashion waste reduction and recycling, setting an example for responsible business practices within the fashion industry. Through the School Bag Initiative, we address the challenge of access to quality education for underprivileged children in underdeveloped communities.
By providing the children with up-cycled school bags made from waste and empowering them through entrepreneurship and skill trainings, we tackle SDGs 4 and 12 and work towards greater educational equity, reducing poverty in our community.
Additionally, our Skill Acquisition project through DunsinCrafts Academy empowers young women and girls with valuable skills and business management knowledge. By organizing training sessions both online and in-person, we address SDGs 1 and 8 and contribute to reducing the unemployment rate in Nigeria while fostering economic growth and women empowerment in our community. In the past three years, we have successfully empowered 1,677 children through the School Bag Initiative and over 3,000 women & girls through skill acquisition, showcasing the tangible social and economic impact of our work in the community
